Opening to The Matrix

The shots start off with a view on the different numbers this makes us realize that this film is going to be a lot to do with codes which are usually conventions of an action film. then we see a close up on a police officer this makes us aware of the characters involved then we have a focus pull where will still see one of the police officers to show us the characters in this scene but we can also see the main police officer clearer in the background. having a low angled shot in the background makes all of the officers look vulnerable. An over the shoulder shot is used when they are opening the door this shows the guns and shows what they are looking at. Straight after a medium shot is used to show the facial expressions of the police officer taking down the door. this is used to show us what type of character he is. Finally we get a few different close ups on the police officers faces to show us the worry in their faces. this contrast with the close up on the characters face who is getting shouted at as she is very calm and relaxed.
The editing pace is very quick at the start as we want to build up tension in the film.the shots are put together so that you see the police men walk in the direction to the door. the continuity of each of the shots work together so that we see what is going to happen in each point of time.
We can tell that this film is aimed towards teenagers, this is becausem there is alot happening and the pace of each scene is quite fast this brings suspense and we want to know what is going to happen later on the film, i feel it is aimed towards teenagers because it is quite scary at the start and it is hard to understand what is happening.
