Opemning to Toy Story

There are many camera shots to create a varied atmosphere and to tell us more about the film close ups are used to show us the characters and long shots are used to show the whole scenery. The sound goes quiet and Mr Potato head gets a close up on his face and an over the shoulder view, this gets us to see the characters and we get an incite to what the characters are going to be like. The close up on the T-Rex makes us understand he is meant to be feared.
The editing pace is at a medium tempo sometimes speeding up so you can see which parts are exciting and which parts want you to see more of the characters.
There are things through out that make us understand the genre of this film, i get the impression that there are two different genres in the opening two minuets. firstly we feel it is an animation due to the boy the main character is a fake and is animated, we get the impression it is a fantasy when we see woody save the toy woman with sheep, this makes us realize the different genres of this film.
We can tell that the target audience of this film is a family as it has some funny parts and it can be related to real life of some family's.
The music when wody enters shows us that he is the protagonist and that he is going to continue that through ought the film. The song "you've got a friend in me" shows us that the boy is friendly with his toys and they are friendly with him back.
The opening with the boy and the toys is done to show us what the characters are like and we can get the feeling for what they are going to be like through the film.We can tell that the young boy the main character is quite violent as he creates a violent scene at the start, but we can also tell he is a happy boy
I think that the opening of this film sets us up for the film and is very exciting as you do not know what is going to happen to the toys and what the story line is going to be like as they only show you the toys and the scenery. Also i think it is interesting as you can relate it back to when you were a child and used to play with your toys

Opening to Scream

Different types of shots are used they use long shots to show scenery and to show the tense moments. Close ups are used on the characters to show her facial expressions more clear. They use many different types of shots in the opening of this film, i think this is clever because it makes us get a better film for the characters and it builds suspense and makes us more worried for the character.
They vary the shot pace so that it brings more tension when it is meant to be more tense there will be longer shots so that you start to get more anxious where as when she is happy and does not know what is going to happen short shots are used so we understand that something is happening.
This film you can instantly tell is aimed towards teenagers and adults due to a large amount of jump scenes and a bit of cursing, also it is not good for a child to be watching films like this as it would give them nightmares.
We understand in the opening few minutes that this film is a horror. There are many conventions being shown in this opening scene which make us understand the genre of the film. The voice of the man on the phone has a creepy tone and we initially understand him to be different to any other person. Also usually in a horror film lots of objects in the house make noises. When the man on the phone tells the woman not to hang up the phone but she does in fear the door bell rings, this is done so that we know there is someone outside and makes us worried. Fear is one of the conventions in a horror film. We usually associate a dark night with bad things like bats and usually bad things happen in the dark so due to it being a dark night we realize something bad is about to happen. We also get little parts which show us the real conventions of this horror film. When she picks up the Knife, knives are usually associated with killing and in a horror film people usually get killed by knives.
I believe that the opening to this film is very good as it does everything you want a horror film to do. It made me worried it made me jump and most importantly it created suspense! I also believe that everything is done for a reason and that we get the impression that after everything she does it builds up more suspense

Opening to The Expendables 2

They use different camera shots throughought the opening two mins so that you understand what is happening in more depth. the over the shoulder view on the man in the tank shows us the whole view of what is happeing in front of the character, the high angle view on the city shows us the damage. The close up on the characters shows us their expressions and makes us understand their feelings. The medium shot length shows all the characters and shows the whole scernery.
Their is a fast editing pace as it is an action film everything happens at a fast pace so it keeps the sceen moving and also it keeps us gripped to the scene and makes us feel tence as we want to see what is going to happen.
This scene gives us the impression that this film is an action film this is because we see explosions, guns and people dying these are the usuall conventions of an action.the loud noises and the characters actions are violent and make us realize this is an action.
We instantly realize who are going to be the characters we like and who are going to be the main antagonists, the men who are driving in the tanks are going to be the heroes, we get this inpression because they look like they are comming to save the day.
The loud noiseing in the background makes us feel glued to the screen, as it is quiet we get the impression it is heroic.
I believe that the start of this film is good becasue it makes you wonder what is going to happen, it is not aimed towards girls as their is alot of blood and violence i belive it is good because you are able to relate it to real life.

Opening to The Dark Knight

.
We get a high angle view on the jokers gang robbing money from the bank this gives us a better view on what is happening and makes us understand what the genre is. The birds eye view of the area shows us where the robbery is going to take place and makes us feel excited. The low angled view on the joker shows us that he has authority and makes him look like a big character. The lighting is shining on his masks eyes this makes us worry and feel more scared of him. The over the shoulder view shows us both characters and we see what is happening in a better view, and builds tension as we wonder what is going to happen.
The pace of the editing is quick, this is done to make it more exciting and makes us realize something bad is going to happen. also it makes us understand the different characters in more depth. The scenes flow and as it is a fight scene the fast editing pace helps this.
This film is targeted to male people due to a lot of action, a lot of fighting, people dying and guns. This is what most boys enjoy most.
Music's playing constantly in the background, this builds up tension and makes us wonder how it is going to end out. the music quiets down when he enters the vault. this is good because it makes it feel like we are in the area and makes us want to know how he is going to get into the vault and it sounds like dangerous music. then as the main owner of the back exits his area and shoots through the glass the music builds up this makes it more tense. The music is played perfectly so we understand what is going on in more depth.
This film makes it clear what genre it is in the opening scene. Guns are usually seen as action as it makes us also sense that there are going to be a lot of fight scenes, also when the window of the building shatters this makes us believe it to be an action as things breaking are usually shown in action films.
I think this opening scene is great due to you are able to picture exactly what is going to happen during the rest of the film. it also keeps you gripped and makes you want to know when someone is gong to save the day and put something right. You know who the villains are. I think all the props are used well and the conventions make the scene more interesting.
